Ranbir Kapoor is a part of the iconic cricket match happening in Wankade stadium between India and New Zealands. He was actually introduced to the stadium by Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh. The actor is associated with the brand ambassadors of the India vs New Zealand match, through his upcoming film, Animal. His first question was, “How do you play with this feeling of immense pressure?” The question invoked a laugh. Harbhajan was then prompt to respond that it is what they know best – to play the sport. Ranbir then said that he’s feeling bad for NZ, since everybody will be seen in a blue jersey in the stadium.

Irfan said, “Andar ke animal ko shaant karna padta hai,” thus plugging in Ranbir’s movie. “Poore India ke animal instincts bahaar nikalne wali hai,” Ranbir was heard saying.

Ranbir at 2011 World Cup final

Back in 2011, India had won the match against Sri Lanka. Ranbir was a part of the match. He donned the Indian jersey and could be seen in cool sunglasses back then.

The reason for that win, according to Ranbir

Ranbir recalled watching all kind of matches, including football and basketball. He however stresses that the energy that day in 2011 was something else. The actor compared it to a Michael Jackson concert. He felt goosebumps the minute those in the stadium start singing Vande Mataram. Ranbir calls it ‘once in a lifetime memory.’

What happened after the match?

Ranbir further revealed that it took him five hours to reach back home. This is because everybody was partying over India’s win in the match. Thus, even though he should have ideally reached home within an hour, it took five hours because people were dancing on roads after the win. Now, it is just a matter of time before we see whether the moments from the year could be recreated in this match too.
