Producer Aditya Chopra is getting ready to bring the critically acclaimed Dhoom trilogy back for a fourth instalment, over ten years after the release of Dhoom 3. With Ranbir Kapoor assuming the lead role, production on the film, titled Dhoom 4, is set to begin in April 2026. The action franchise, which started in 2004, is taking a new turn with this project.
According to Pinkvilla, Chopra is working on the script with Shridhar Raghavan. Along with the YRF head, the ace screenwriter—who has written for YRF's Pathaan and War—is developing a plot that will be unique aside from the YRF Spy Universe.
An insider revealed to the entertainment portal that Chopra and Raghavan have collaborated closely on the script and storyline for Dhoom 4. They are currently working on a story draft that's worthy of the hype surrounding the reboot with Dhoom 4.
The action series will star Kapoor, who is currently filming Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. With intentions to reimagine the film's aesthetic and narrative tone, the part is being shaped to suit his character.
The source further said that Dhoom 4 is a perfect fit for Kapoor, and the role was developed with his energy and character traits in mind. In addition to departing significantly from the well-established YRF Spy Universe in terms of both visual palette and plot, the new Dhoom film is being developed with an eye towards meeting worldwide action standards.

With shooting expected to wrap by the year's end in 2026, the producers are aiming for a 2027 release. Kapoor has an already full schedule for the next four years, with Dhoom 4, Brahmastra 2, and Animal Park all on the way.
