It has been an unfortunate chapter in Ranbir Kapoor's career when a few of his films have been delayed for many reasons. One of the biggest films is Brahmastra, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The film has been in the making for four years now and is finally set to hit the big screens on September 11, 2022. During the media group interaction, RK addressed his films getting delayed and how it has been testing his patience too.
Ranbir stated, "To be honest, when a film is delayed, it has many factors attached to it. I'm not a director; I'm just an actor. So I'm an employed talent on the film where I'm told by the director that you have to reach set at this time. This is what we're shooting. Where Brahmastra's delays are concerned, I think when we started the film, we were not prepared for the animal that it was. It had too many special effects, and where the story was, we didn't expect that. So we were learning as we were making it."
The actor also said, "But the intention for every film of mine, the ones that I have produced or not produced, is to make it to the best of its capability. We were never lazy about it, we were always working. So delays mean a lot of reshoots happen sometimes, and there's nothing wrong with reshooting because, eventually, the audience is going to see the end product. If you shoot for 100, 200, or even 40 days, your product should be good."
However, RK assured us that Shamshera had not been delayed. He shared, "As far as Shamshera is concerned, I don't think it was delayed at all. I saw the film in 2018. We shot it in 140 days. We had no reshoots. Our producer (Aditya Chopra) is very precise about where his money is going. So it's not that Karan (Malhotra, Shamshera director) had a field to play in to do whatever he wanted or make a Mughal-e-Azam."
Furthermore, he spoke about the delay in Brahmastra's release, saying, "But yes, Brahmastra has been delayed for many reasons. But I'm hoping that the film has its merits when it's released and that the audience doesn't see the delays and just sees entertainment."
RK concluded by saying, "It tests your patience. But like I said, it's not in my hands. I am not that kind of an actor who puts a gun to the director's head and says that I have only so many dates. I understand if the director is seeing something, he is seeing it for the greater good. He wants to make a better film. So I like the process of creating and making it to the best of its capability."
