Ranbir Kapoor will come back on screen after four years with Shamshera, which also features Sanjay Dutt and villain Shuddh Singh. In the film, Ranbir plays a 19th-century dacoit. According to several film buffs, the actor will portray a role that is completely contrary to what we have seen so far. The film also features Vaani Kapoor and will be released on July 22. In an interview with Ei Samay, the actor talked about his character and nervousness.

Ranbir admitted that he is nervous before the release. “My film is getting released after four years. Of course, I am nervous. We all worked really hard for the film. I am expecting that our audience will be entertained by the film. They will enjoy their time at the theatres,” he said.

Ranbir will be playing a father and son double role in the film. When asked if Rishi Kapoor’s impression influenced him in playing the role of the father he said that the character is quite different from his father. He also admitted that while playing the character, Rishi’s image could have possibly played back in his mind. “It was difficult for me to play both father and son. The two characters are completely different in their soul,” he said.

The film talks about a dacoit community. According to Ranbir, it took a lot of effort for the makeup and costume team to make him look like a person from the community. “I look pretty urban. It was quite challenging for me to be transformed into something so starkly different,” he said.

Ranbir has watched the film quite a few times. He feels it is difficult to evaluate a film if one is deeply involved in the project. “It is difficult to judge the film when I am so focused on my character. But I can say that I am happy. We have successfully depicted the script on the big screen. We will have to see if our viewers agree with me,” he said.
