Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that his uncle, Randhir Kapoor, is suffering from the early stage of dementia. The actor also revealed that Randhir was asking for his late father, after watching his final film, Sharmaji Namkeen.
Talking to NDTV, Ranbir said, “My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, and he came to me after the film, said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him’. Art crosses boundaries of medical condition.”
Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020, after fighting against leukemia. Sharmaji Namkeen, the actor’s swansong, was completed after Paresh Rawal stepped in to play the role.
Ranbir, in another interview, had said that working on a movie and not hanging his boots is how his father would have liked to go. The actor, who was declared cancer free, relapsed after one month of filming of the film.
The movie, which is directed by Hitesh Bhatia, started streaming on Amazon Prime Video on March 31, and has received positive reviews. Fans are also impressed with the movie.
“Kapoor got into the skin of his character, and the role has been tailor-made for me. The actor gushes out the right emotions and also plays well in the sequences where he knows his cuteness will overpower him.” reads the movie’s review on OTTPlay.
Rishi Kapoor plays a recently retired man in the movie, which also stars Paresh Rawal, Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha and Isha Talwar.
