Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal turned into a massive blockbuster and grabbed attention for its brutal violence. After its historic run, the action thriller film was announced to be back with a sequel. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal is currently gearing up for its release in Japan, and the filmmaker shared some major updates about the second installment titled Animal Park. In the conversation, Sandeep Reddy Vanga and the Animal star Ranbir Kapoor revealed the shoot details and the expected plotline of Animal Park.
What is Animal Park about?
Ranbir Singh’s Animal created a wave similar to Dhurandhar when it witnessed huge crowds lined up for the movie. Even after its massive theatrical run that surpassed Rs 900 crore, Animal remained in the top 10 ‘most watched’ on its streaming platform post its OTT premiere on Netflix.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brutal action thriller film Animal is currently gearing up for its release in Japan on February 13. Ahead of the big premiere, the actor-director duo engaged in some conversations for the upcoming sequel titled Animal Park. In a virtual press event, Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared that Animal Park will continue its violent tale with a darker narrative between two look-alike brothers as it centers around their clash and full-blown war. Ranbir Kapoor will return as the angry man Ranvijay Singh with another character as Aziz. “There will be more animals because Aziz is another animal. So it's a war between the two brothers now who look alike,” said the filmmaker.
Ranbir Kapoor, who is currently working with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s awaited film Love & War, also expressed his excitement over Animal Park. He revealed that the sequel was envisioned by the filmmaker during the filming of the first film, thus highlighting its continuity rather than being a standalone one. "Well, I can't wait to get back on set with Sandeep and to play this character and another character. Since it's a continuing story, the story of part two was very clear in his mind while filming part one. So it's very exciting. It's very inspiring for me as an actor," said Ranbir Kapoor.
When will Animal Park begin its shoot?
During the event, Sandeep Reddy Vanga also shared when he will begin the production for Animal Park. The Kabir Singh director is currently busy with Prabhas’ Spirit and will focus on Animal Park after that. He shared that 2027 will kickstart the production of the Animal sequel. “Animal Park will start soon, once I finish the current film (Spirit). We will start in the middle of 2027," the director added.
Meanwhile, Animal centers around an obsessive son who embarks on a deadly rampage after his father's assassination (Anil Kapoor). Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri appear in lead roles.
