Less than a month after its theatrical release, director Sujith Lal’s Randu, which has Vishnu Unnikrishnan in the lead, will drop on an OTT platform. The movie, scripted by Binulal Unni, is a satire that evolves against the backdrop of religious politics.
The movie, which hit theatres on January 7 this year, also has Sudhi Koppa, Anna Rajan, Tini Tom, Mamitha Baiju, Mareena Michael, Mala Parvathy, Kalabhavan Rahman and Irshad in pivotal roles. Randu, which has music composed by M Jayachandran, has Aneesh Lal as its cinematographer. The film had completed shooting in February 2021.
What is the story of Randu?
The movie has Vishnu playing an autorickshaw driver named Vava in a village where political parties affiliated to various religions operate, but there has been peace. However, after certain events in the country flare up based on religions, Vishnu, who often plays peacekeeper, gets caught in an incident that the parties use to incite division among its people.
The film is a relevant tale where political parties try to sway people based on their agenda, with blatant disregard for others – letting their assumptions triumph over the truth.
While the movie has a political undertone, the movie’s scriptwriter has told the socio-political story through humour and satire.
When and where to watch Randu?
The film will stream on Amazon Prime Video from February 4, 2022. This is the second movie that Vishnu has the hero dropping on an OTT platform. Last year, his horror-thriller Krishnankutty Panithudangi, which also has Saniya Iyyappan in the lead, released directly on ZEE5.
