Rani Mukerji recently spoke out about her experience shooting for the film Hichki in an interview with Kareena Kapoor Khan on her show, What Women Want. The Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway star revealed that she left her daughter Adira at home to shoot for the 2018 Siddharth Malhotra directorial Hichki, which was her first movie after giving birth.
During the interview, Rani reminisced about her experience on set and the emotions she felt leaving her daughter at home while working. She said that she would howl while leaving her 14-month-old baby at home, and said that her motherly instincts kicked in, wondering what would happen to her baby without her.
Rani, however, praised her husband, Aditya Chopra, for being supportive and enabling her to return to work early. She emphasised the importance of responsibility towards her fans and work, stating, “As professionals, we have to get back.”
The actress also shared that after arriving on set, she felt like she had forgotten how to act and worried about letting people down. Nevertheless, she managed to stay on top of her personal life, experiencing her daughter’s first steps after the shoot and not missing out on any milestones due to her acting career.
Rani’s latest film, Ashima Chibber-directed Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway, is inspired by a true story. The actress reflected on how she thought about her own mother during the shoot, and how she would react if Rani and her brother were taken away from her. The movie also stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta and Jim Sarbh.
