Koffee with Karan 8 - Rani Mukerji spills beans on “secret airport route” for Aditya Chopra and her special way of parenting daughter Adira

The sixth episode of Koffee with Karan season 8 is nothing less than a rollercoaster of nostalgia filled up with sentiments and comic moments. The reunion of Kajol and Rani Mukerji about 16 years later on the Koffee couch is adored by both the OTT audience and the filmmaker host Karan Johar. From chit-chatting about the behind-the-scenes to family and kids – the duo spoke their heart out in the recent episode that premiered after Wednesday midnight.

Rani Mukherjee on daughter Adira

In a candid conversation, the talk show host appreciates the intergenerational friendship legacy taken forward by their kids. For the unversed, Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra’s daughter Adira are friends with Karan Johar’s twins Yash and Roohi and the kids also spend time in Taekwondo classes.

Johar lauded Rani’s skills and protective mother instinct to keep her daughter away from the limelight and even asked her the strategy she uses to steer away attention. “Nobody has ever got a photograph of hers. I want to know, how do you manage this,” Karan Johar curiously asked.

The Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway actress responded calmly and said, “I tell them. Don’t take baby’s picture. They look at my eyes and they get scared.”

The KKHH director’s eyes sparked with surprise after her reply and he further asked to explain how her eyes scare the paparazzi. The Hichki actress also thanked the media people for respecting her privacy and never stepping out the boundaries. “That they know. Right from the time Adira was born, I think..And I have to thank all the paparazzi and media people. They really love me because they kind of respected that. And they know how Adi is and it was our decision together that we didn’t want Adira to be photographed because we have a different idea of how we want to raise Adira. So that she doesn’t feel privileged or special in school”.

Mukerji also elaborated on her decision to embrace normalcy with her daughter and that she wants her to feel like any other kid, without getting extra attention.  “And that would happen only if she would not be photographed. So it was the first year when I was travelling with Adira and I told them please don’t take baby’s pictures and they kind of respected that,” the 45-year-old actress added.

Karan Johar asks for a secret route

The conversation of parenting the star kid in normal surroundings quickly took an amusing turn when Karan Johar asked about the secret exit Aditya Chopra takes to the airport. “Can you tell us the secret route that maybe we can also adopt at times.” The actress then explains how she becomes the honeybee so that her husband and child get a miss. “No, actually he is really simple when he moves around. So, I’m actually the honeybee. I’ve to make way for my child and my husband.”
