Nothing in Bollywood is ever permanent. Actor Ranveer Singh, who made his acting debut in 2010 with Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baaraat, a Yash Raj Films production gained a lot of popularity in the industry, but the production house has now made the decision to sever their 12-year relationship with the actor.

The actor's career has suffered greatly since the pandemic. His much-hyped movie '83 struggled to sell tickets. A failure, Jayeshbhai Jordaar, only made Rs. 15.59 crores. Cirkus was also met with high expectations. Audiences, however, were unimpressed. It finished its run with 35.65 crores. There are rumours circulating in the industry that the company that gave him his start, Yash Raj Films, has opted not to work on any projects with him going forward.

A source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Aditya Chopra, the YRF head honcho, and his core team are heavily invested in the YRF Spy Universe at the moment. They recently delivered an all-time blockbuster with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan (2023) and are gearing up for the release of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3. They are also planning forthcoming films in this universe. A lot is at stake as each film is going to be heavily budgeted and hence, there can’t be room for error. Each film needs utmost concentration, right from pre-production to the last mile release.”

The source continued that in such a situation, a Ranveer Singh movie is the furthest thing from their minds.

It is to be noted that only one of the six films that Ranveer has collaborated with YRF has not been a financial failure. And it is Gunday (2014). His average grossers included Band Baaja Baaraat, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, and Befikre, Kill Dil and Jayeshbhai Jordaar. The source further added, “It’s also important to note that while these 6 films made money due to the sale of OTT and satellite rights, the box office returns were in the red for Yash Raj Films.”

It's interesting to note that Ranveer has been groomed and nurtured by the agency and has a close relationship with Aditya Chopra, who serves as both a friend and a mentor to him.

On the work front, Ranveer is looking forward to his next movie, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, alongside Alia Bhatt.
