Ranveer Singh has given Bhumi Pednekar the credit for helping him audition for Band Baaja Baarat. It is well known that Ranveer made his smashing Bollywood debut with the YRF film. Back then, Bhumi was the casting director in YRF.
Ranveer remembered his audition and how Bhumi ‘put him to ease’ before it, which led him to perform better. The actor spilled the beans on the Valentines’ Day special on Netflix, The Romantics.
Bhumi, as expected of a casting director, performed the scene for Ranveer. He felt confident about his audition thanks to her performance that day.
The actress, who herself made a grand debut in Bollywood with Dum Laga Ke Haisha opposite Ayushmann Khurrana, was under Shanoo Sharma’s team. Since then, Ranveer and Shanoo have been like buddies.
Unfortunately, Ranveer got nervous during his scenes with co-star Anushka Sharma. Ranveer could not perform either during the rehearsals or when he first faced the camera. After receiving a warning from Aditya Chopra, Ranveer eventually became the character of Bittoo Sharma and made it iconic.
The Romantics is a tribute to Yash Chopra, known as the king of romance (behind the cameras, of course). It also sees the often-so-shy Aditya come on cameras for the first time.
Ranveer and Bhumi are yet to pair up on the big screen. They were expected to be a part of Karan Johar’s Takht but the project is currently on hold.
Meanwhile, Ranveer will be seen opposite Alia Bhatt in Karan’s next, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The film is slated to release on July 28, 2023.
