Birthday boy Ranveer Singh is currently in the US along with his wife, actress Deepika Padukone. The actor has taken a break from work to attend a Konkani convention along with Deepika. During the convention, the couple spoke about having children and Ranveer revealed why it was important to learn Deepika's mother tongue, Konkani, so that she doesn't turn the children against him. While Ranveer belongs to a Sindhi family, Deepika is a Konkani.

A video of the duo having a fun banter has gone viral on social media. In the video, Ranveer says that he understands Konkani and that he cited a reason for learning the language. "When we have children, I don’t want their mother to talk to them in Konkani about me without me understanding it.”

Deepika chimed in and said that one day Ranveer came up to her and said that he wanted to learn Konkani. “I was like ‘it’s very sweet’ because he doesn't speak his mother tongue Sindhi. Then over a period time, it came up in conversations that it was not about Ranveer wanting to learn Konkani, but that I don’t turn the children against him.” To which Ranveer pitched in and said, “Of course, I don’t want them to speak in a code language where I don't know what's going on.”

Meanwhile Deepika went on take a dig at the fact that Ranveer couldn't attend Sindhi conventions as he didn't speak the language, unlike her who is able to be part of Konkani conventions. Ranveer responded in a witty manner to the comment. Pointing at his solitaires, he said, “Arre, look at my solitaires, I am qualified.” The fun conversation about the duo having children has gone viral on the internet and fans of the duo have asked them to children soon. Deepika and Ranveer were last seen together on screen in '83, a film that revolved around India's first victory in the Cricket World Cup.
