Over the weekend, the team of the upcoming Kannada film Varada, which is set to release in theatres on February 18, put out a lyrical video of the song Thutiyu Haaduthide. What strikes one immediately, are the initial images of lead pair Vinnod Prabhakar and Amitha Ranganath kissing passionately, followed by the voice of the singer of the song. Turns out, music director S Pradeep Varma got former Bigg Boss contestant and RJ Rapid Rashmi to turn playback singer for the film, and she has done a fantabulous job at it. Those familiar with Rashmi’s social media updates know that she is a fairly good singer, but this song only goes to prove her talent even more.
The commercial flick Varada has been directed and produced by Udayprakash, known for films like Kalla Malla Sulla, DK, Auto Raja, and Yogi, and follows the story of an engineer and his strange relationship with his father. The film is high on action and emotional drama, with senior actor Charan Raj playing Vinnod’s father. In fact, during one of the action sequences of the film, Vinnod had injured himself, requiring him to then rest for over a month before resuming work on the film. Varada is Vinnod’s first release after last year’s Darshan-starrer Roberrt, in which he had a pivotal role and was paired with Sonal Monteiro.
Up next, the actor turns producer with the film Lankasura, which, incidentally comes after a decade in the film industry for Vinnod. Directed by Pramod Kumar, the film, according to reports is set against an underworld backdrop. Mollywood actress Parvathy Arun, who debuted in Kannada cinema with Geetha, will be paired opposite Vinnod.
