Rashmika Mandanna, who has had two releases in as many languages this year - Varisu (Tamil) and Mission Majnu (direct-to-OTT release on Netflix - Hindi) - hopes to sign off in 2023 on a high with Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal is an action drama revolving around a father and a son, that releases on December 1. Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol play other pivotal roles in it.

The film’s pre-release event was held in Hyderabad on Monday in the presence of the cast, crew and chief guests Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli. Thousands of film buffs, college students thronged the venue and their love truly humbled Rashmika, going by her speech. “You are all shouting at the top of your voices - enjoy, but please take care of your vocal cords; we still like it,” she said.

She thanked Guntur Kaaram star Mahesh Babu for taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the event and also sang the ‘He’s so cute’ number from Sarileru Neekevvaru, receiving a warm hug from the star. “I and SS Rajamouli (garu) have a blockbuster connection. He attended the pre-release event for Pushpa as well, I am grateful for his presence here.”

“Don’t come to the theatres purely expecting a violent film, it’s ultimately a family drama. There will be great performances, phenomenal characters. I am waiting for you in theatres on December 1,” Rashmika added. The actress has several films lining up for release in 2024 including Pushpa 2 The Rule, The Girlfriend and the Hindi film Chaava. She’s also the female lead in Sekhar Kammula’s next with Dhanush.

Tripti Dimri, Shakti Kapoor are also part of Animal, which releases in five languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Murad Khetani and Krishan Kumar. Sandeep Reddy Vanga is also the editor of the film.
