While the South vs Bollywood debate was a constant this year, it is interesting to note how talent from the South Indian film industry have been finding fans among Hindi film fans.
Rashmika Mandanna is one of the new additions to the list of actors who are loved by the audiences across regions. Present at the song launch of Rabba Janda from her upcoming film Mission Majnu, she opened up on how the South Indian audience appreciates the work of Bollywood stars.
Rashmika said, "These days, most films are pan-Indian, so there's a constant exchange happening, and our audience in the South really love Bollywood actors. We absolutely love and support actors from here (the Hindi film industry) and the audience is waiting for all films to release."
The actress made her Bollywood debut earlier this year with the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Goodbye. But Rabba Janda is the first time that the actress will be seen in a romantic Hindi film song. Excited about this, Rashmika said, "When I was growing up, romantic songs meant Bollywood songs. In the South, we have commercial masala films with action, and when it comes to songs, there are many item numbers. So, we all have a special place for Bollywood songs. Rabba Janda is my first Bollywood romantic song and I am excited about that," said the actress who is known films like Pushpa: The Rise, Dear Comrade and Geetha Govindam.
Rabba Janda is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, written by Shabbir Ahmed and sung by Jubin Nautiyal. Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Amar Butala and Garima Mehta, Mission Majnu also stars Parmeet Sethi, Sharib Hashmi, Mir Sarwar and Kumud Mishra. It is slated to release on Netflix on January 20, 2023.
