Rathnam has music scored by National Award-winner Devi Sri Prasad, who earlier worked with Hari on Aaru, Singam and Venghai. The technical crew consists of cinematographer M Sukumar and TS Jay has handled the editing. Hari has also written the dialogues for Rathnam. According to some reports, Rathnam is said to have been made on a budget of Rs 50 crore. It is bankrolled by Stone Bench Films and Zee Studios.

Upon its release, Rathnam majorly received poor reviews with many citing the archaic filmmaking and storytelling methods. “Rathnam is a signature Hari movie. His fast-paced cuts, violence and bloodshed contribute to the visual factors of all his previous films. But do they really contribute to the effectiveness of the story? Unfortunately, not,” reads OTTplay review of the film.
