Ratna Pathak Shah reveals the best relationship advice she got from Naseeruddin Shah

Veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah has shared one of the best tips that she got from her husband, actor Naseeruddin Shah. She added that that particular piece of advice helped her adapt to his family after they got married.

Before he married Ratna, Naseeruddin was married to Manara Sikri, with whom he has a daughter, Heeba Shah. So, when Ratna and Naseeruddin got married, he advised her not to label any relationship, as that would help her blend into his family.

Ratna shared the story in an interview with Twinkle Khanna.

She said, "Naseer gave me some very good advice, which I don’t think I followed; he certainly hasn’t, but I also haven't, except in Heeba’s case. (He had said) it is best not to give names to a relationship, like husband, wife, mother, son, etc., because these things become straight jackets. If you keep the relationship a bit flexible, it helps. With Heeba, I definitely did that. Both of us happened to be in a situation where we could be flexible."

Ratna also gave credit to Heeba for accepting her, making adjustments, and helping them develop positive feelings for each other.

"We just decided to try and take it as. Luckily, it developed well," Ratna signed off.
