Ravi Bopanna and Gaalipata 2: It’s a Crazy Star vs Golden Star box office clash this August

The month of August will prove to be another exciting period for Kannada Cinema patrons as veteran actor-director V. Ravichandran’s Ravi Bopanna joins the list of releases. The drama-thriller which happens to be the remake of the Malayalam hit Joseph will hit the big screens on August 12 to set up an exciting clash at the Kannada box office. Yes, with Ravi Bopanna meeting the much-anticipated Gaalipata 2 at the cinema halls on August 12, fans are in for a riveting Crazy Star and Golden Star faceoff.

While Gaalipata 2 boasts of an ensemble cast directed by Yogaraj Bhat, Ravi Bopanna has the iconic actor/filmmaker at the helm of most things. One could assert that track Heronu Ivane Villannu Ivane is the correct encapsulation of what Ravi Bopanna offers as the Crazy Star returns to action donning several roles: aside from being the protagonist, Ravichandran also written, directed, and produced the film. He is also credited as the editor and music composer of Ravi Bopanna.

Known for directing and starring in some of the biggest cult hits of the ‘80s and ‘90s of Kannada cinema, V. Ravichandran has etched a very specific niche for himself. In a recent interview with Cinema Express, the maverick and quirky artist described Ravi Bopanna as a “magical, musical, miracle entertainer” and added that the upcoming film would be a new take on his iconic Premaloka. To make things better, Ravi Bopanna would be the 50th project releasing under the Eswari Production banner.

The rest of the cast of Ravi Bopanna includes Kavya Shetty and Ravi Shankar Gowda with Rachita Ram and Vikrant Rona star Kiccha Sudeep making special cameo appearances in the film.

Coming to Gaalipata 2, the Golden Star Ganesh starrer has him reuniting with his old pals Diganth Manchale, Anant Nag, Rangayana Raghu, and others with Lucia Pawan Kumar, Sharmiela Mandre, Vaibhavi Shandilya, and Samyuktha Menon. Gaalipata 2 was earlier pitted with the Rachita Ram – Dhananjaya starrer Monsoon Raaga but the latter will now be releasing in theatres on August 19.
