Crazy Star V Ravichandran’s return to direction, after nearly six years, was with Ravi Bopanna, the Kannada remake of the award-winning Malayalam film Joseph. Ravichandran’s version, which released in theatres on August 12, has bitten dust at the box office, with audiences clearly not liking his adaptation. Most audiences seem to have taken offense to the actor-filmmaker’s objectification of women in his film, namely Kavya Shetty and Radhika Kumaraswamy. Here’s a look at some opinions

“Ravichandran should evolve with age! And he did fine movies back then! And his good movies didn't get good support from audience by that I mean ( Shanti kranti)! There no one who tells him that audiences doesn't entertain objectification of women! Our world doesn't revolve around premaloka & shantikranti! We have moved on man! Father roles madkond irri guru vayasaytu nimgu! 20's hudgir jote NIV madod nodoke nange thu bejaar ansatte! “

“Worst ever movie. Ravichandran should stop making movies. He is still in 90s . Again talks about premaloka.. yappa.. yaarig bek guru premaloka.. remake star. .. he still thinks showing women and glamour works in movies.. yappa..”

“Still his mindset is not changed. hudgirnna hot agi thorsidre movie nodakke Jana bartare andkondire.”

“Ravichandran still living in 80s doing remake movies.. either update or do meaningful roles in other movies.. he has the talent .. at one time we thought he will take Kannada film industry to higher level.. unfortunately he got sucked into the remake rut.”

The film is a home production for Ravichandran, who gave the narrative his twist, with a lot of philosophical takes, none of which has appealed to audiences. Ravi Bopanna, they say, is more an extension of Ekangi than a remake of Joseph, which had Joju George in the lead. The Kannada adaptation even had Kiccha Sudeep in a pivotal cameo, but that didn’t help either.
