The ace cinematographer is likely to crank the camera for Karthi's film with Raju Murugan

If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, ace cinematographer Ravi Varman is all set to crank the camera for director Raju Murugan's next starring Karthi in the lead. The shoot for the film is expected to begin soon. We hear that Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play the antagonist in the film. The announcement of the star cast not been made official yet. This is Karthi's 24th film and the first time that he is teaming up with Raju Murugan.
Karthi is currently working on two films, one of which is Sardar, helmed by PS Mithran and the other one being Viruman, a commercial potboiler directed by M Muthiah.
Sardar is a spy crime thriller and has Karthi in a dual role. Raashi Khanna plays the leading lady in the film. The film marks the comeback of Laila in Tamil and Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey's debut in Kollywood. The rest of star cast includes Rajisha Vijayan and Murali Sharma. GV Prakash Kumar has scored the music for the film. While George C Williams has cranked the camera for the film, editing is being handled by Ruben. Stunts have been choreographed by Dili Subbarayan.
Viruman, on the other hand, has Karthi teaming up with Aditi Shankar. The film is produced by Suriya and Jyotika. Music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography is by Selvakumar SK.
Karthi is also part of director Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan and has wrapped up his portions for the film. What's interesting is that Ravi Varman had cranked the camera for the film. Karthi is said to be playign Vandhiyathevan, a trusted aide and friend of Adithya Karikalan. The historical drama is based on the novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy and the film features as ensemble cast including Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Vikram Prabhu, Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prabhu, Ashwin Kakumanu and others. Ravi Varman had also canned the portions for Karthi's Kaatru Veliyidai, which was also directed by Mani Ratnam.
