Reacher: Alan Ritchson’s thriller series renewed for second season by Amazon Prime Video

In some great news for Jack Reacher fans, it looks like the former military policeman is not done with bad guys just yet. It was announced that Amazon Prime Video has renewed Reacher for a second season. The streaming giant had previously stated that the series was among their five most watched shows of all time.

Amazon Prime Video announced the exciting news on their official Twitter handle recently, which also featured a poster of Alan Ritchson as the titular character looking rugged and intense, with a gun in his hand and bruises on his face.

The Amazon series is based on the popular character from Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series. The show’s first season followed the plot of Child’s debut novel of 1997, Killing Floor. Introducing Reacher’s character, it saw the former military policeman-turned-drifter make his way to a small town, only to find himself trapped in a dangerous conspiracy. Child had served as an executive producer on the show.

Starring Malcolm Goodwin, Willa Fitzgerald, Chris Webster, Hugh Thompson, Maria Sten and Harvey Guillén in pivotal roles along with Ritchson, the eight-episode series was developed by Nick Santora.

Child’s popular character had been adapted to the silver screen previously as well, famously by Tom Cruise who first essayed the character in the 2012 film, Jack Reacher. Christopher McQuarrie, who had directed the film, had also been an executive producer on the Amazon series. In regards to Cruise’s casting, fans of the novel series had expressed their discontentment at the actor’s difference in build compared to the book character. Through the new series, Child had claimed how he wanted to take into consideration this particular criticism that fans had.
