It’s the final countdown to the release of filmmaker R Chandru’s most ambitious film to date – Kabzaa. The film, which has Real Star Upendra in the lead, with Kiccha Sudeep, Shriya Saran and Shivarajkumar at the top of the long list of its ensemble cast, will be in theatres on March 17. Chandru had earlier announced that he chose March 17 as the release date, as it was the late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday and he had been a vocal supporter of the filmmaker in realizing his dream of making Kabzaa. The film, he had said, was a tribute to Puneeth.

Touted to be the next big thing from Kannada cinema, Kabzaa is releasing across the globe on March 17 and now that the distribution partners for most areas are set, the team is also ready to begin advance bookings. While Chandru is yet to announce the local distribution partner, Lyca Productions will handle Tamil Nadu, Ruchira Entertainments and N Cinemas in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, LGF Studios in Kerala and Anand Pandit Productions in the north Indian belt. During a promotional event in Mumbai, hosted by Cinepolis India, it was revealed that advance bookings for the film are likely to open as early as tomorrow, March 10 (Friday). Advance bookings in the USA, Canada and Japan have already begun for the film. In fact, the film will have its official premiere in the US on March 16.

Chandru had earlier said that he was looking at releasing the film in at least 6,000 screens globally, but a final picture of that number will become clear only closer to March 17. The satellite rights of the Kannada version of the film have been picked up by Colors Kannada and digital rights by Amazon Prime Video. The streamer holds the rights to the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions at the moment, and is expected to get the Hindi version too.
