Notorious bikini killer Charles Sobhraj, who had been convicted for multiple murders of foreigners back in the 1970s, was released from prison in Nepal on Friday. He spent about 20 years in prison and is now being deported to France. Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda was seen stepping into his shoes for the screens in the 2015 film titled Main Aur Charles which chronicles the French serial killer's escape from Tihar Jail in 1986.
Infamously nicknamed the 'Serpent' and 'bikini killer', Charles Sobhraj who once terrorized young foreigners, is once again grabbing the eyeballs, only this time for his release and deportment. One of the leading news publications happened to use Randeep Hooda's image from the film Main Aur Charles while reporting about the convicted killer's release from prison.
The image used by the publication features a still of Randeep wearing handcuffs from the film in place of the real picture of Sobhraj. Reacting to the same, Randeep took to his Twitter account and shared the picture, writing, "Is that a backhanded compliment @timesofindia or did you genuinely get confused between the “real” and “reel” Charles Sobhraj ?.”
The actor's cheeky reaction invited a flood of compliments from his fans and admirers. Some of the Tweeple even slammed the publication for making such mistakes routinely. Randeep is known to undergo drastic transformations to get under the skin of the characters he plays on screen. Check out some of the reactions here:
Not just Main Aur Charles, quite a few movies and shows have been made on the life and times of Sobhraj who drugged and murdered young tourists in South East Asia during the 1970s. While you can watch the film Main Aur Charles on Disney+ Hotstar, another popular series on Sobhraj is titled The Serpent which is available to stream on Netflix.
Meanwhile, Randeep Hooda has also been garnering a lot of praise for his recently released web series titled CAT. Also starring Savinder Pal, Hasleen Kaur, and Kavya Thapar among others, CAT is currently streaming on Netflix.
