Rebel, the recently released Tamil film starring GV Prakash in the lead role, is now available for streaming on Prime Video, the makers of the film announced on social media. The film also stars Premalu-fame actor Mamitha Baiju in her Tamil debut.
Rebel on Prime
Directed by debutant filmmaker Nikesh RS, Rebel released in theatres on March 22. However, while many theatrical releases take a month or more to make its streaming debut, Rebel is now available on Prime Video to stream after two weeks of its release. Rebel stars GV Prakash in the lead role, and Mamitha Baiju playing the female lead.
Rebel is a period action drama set against the backdrop of Munnar and traces how students travel to Palakkad for better education. However, the campus seems to be a hotbed of conflicts between Tamil and Malayali students. The film speaks about student politics, and is said to be based on true events. Rebel opened to mixed reviews.
Backed by KE Gnanavelraja under Studio Green, the film has music by GV Prakash, with cinematography handled by Arun Radhakrishnan. Vetre Krishnan has done the editing. Venkitesh VP, Shalu Rahim, Karunas, Adhithya Baskar, Kalloori Vinoth, and Subramaniya Siva, among others also star in the film.
GV Prakash’s line up
GV Prakash has been enjoying back-to-back releases recently. Few weeks after Rebel, the composer-actor saw the release of Kalvan, which is running in theatres currently. The film is a rural drama, also starring Ivana and Bharathiraja. Up next, GV Prakash will be seen alongside Aishwarya Rajesh in DeAr, which is scheduled to release on April 11. He also had announced a big-budget fantasy film Kingston, which is in the making.
Meanwhile, he is also scoring music for some of the much-expected projects, namely Dhanush’s directorial Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, Vikram-starrer Thangalaan and Chiyaan 62, Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan, to name a few. He is also part of Suriya and Sudha Kongara’s project Suriya 43.
