GV Prakash’s most awaited socio-political thriller Rebel, directed by Nikesh RS, is going to be released ‘soon’, according to the composer-turned actor. GV Prakash hinted at the release of the film, with a new look photo on his social media pages. The actor, seen in a red shirt and pants, gives an intense look though appears to be slightly distressed about something. The tough look is receiving a lot of love from his fans, who have termed it a ‘mass’ look and are keen to know the film’s release date.
Well guess what? The actor has hinted that the political thriller is going to be gracing the silver screens soon! The Nikesh RS directorial also features Mamita Baiju as the female lead.
Decoding the Rebel teaser
Going by the teaser, the film is set in the early Communist period in Kerala, where Tamil students are facing injustice and GV Prakash steps forward to protect their rights. The actor plays a left-wing student leader, fighting for the Tamil students in Kerala, who have been forced to do manual labour during what appears to be the early 70s or 60s. The immigrant students are facing discrimination and being ill-treated, and hence, the central character (GV Prakash) fights for their rights in the college premises. The teaser ends with the actor listening to the popular Ilaiyaraaja single, ‘Ilamai Enum Poongatru’ at the college canteen, sitting opposite to a girl (possibly the female lead).
The teaser showcases scenes taking place in Kerala, hence there are many references of the Malayalam language in the film. Overall, the G V Prakash film promises to be an exciting watch, considering that it is inspired by real-lfe events.
Besides GV Prakash Kumar and Mamitha Baiju, Rebel movie’s star cast includes Venkitesh VP, Shalu Rahim, Karunas, Adhithya Baskar, Kalloori Vinoth and Subramaniya Siva. GV Prakash himself has scored the music for the film, while cinematography has been handled by Arun Radhakrishnan and editing by Vetre Krishnan. The film is financed by KE Gnanavel Raja, under the banner of Studio Green.
