The teaser of GV Prakash Kumar's Rebel was released by Suriya on his social media handle last evening. The teaser, which spans 1 minute and 37 seconds, features GV Prakash as a fiery college student and leader of the student wing of a political party.

Here are some important takeaways from the teaser
Going by the teaser, GV Prakash plays a left wing student leader, who fights for the Tamil people who arrived in Kerala to do manual labour during the British empire. They were then ill-treated and discriminated against by the rich and the police. GV Prakash is seen fighting it out against the wrongdoers in what looks like a college premises. The video ends with the actor listening to the popular Ilaiyaraaja number, Ilamai Enum Poongathu in the college canteen.

Though GV Prakash has played a college student in the past, this would be the first time that he would be seen in such a fierce avatar. It looks like the actor will have some heavy-duty action scenes as he takes down a bunch of his nemesis. The film is likely to have many references to communism and there are mentions of proletariat and bourgeoisie. And since the story takes place in Kerala, there will be oodles of Malayalam as well in the narration.

Interestingly, Suriya, who released the teaser, had played Michael Vasanth, a fierce student leader in Mani Ratnam's Ayutha Ezhuthu. His character was said to be based on George Reddy from Andhra Pradesh, who opposed social discrimination and economic inequality, and propagated Marxist ideology.

Star cast and crew
The film's star cast comprises GV Prakash Kumar, Mamitha Baiju, Venkitesh VP, Shalu Rahim, Karunas, Adhithya Baskar, Kalloori Vinoth and Subramaniya Siva. Music for the film is by GV Prakash Kumar himself, cinematography by Arun Radhakrishnan and editing by Vetre Krishnan. The stunt choreography is by Dhilip Sakthi Saravanan. The film is bankrolled by KE Gnananvel Raja's Studio Green.
