Red Notice starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds becomes Netflix’s most popular movie

Red Notice, the action comedy with a stellar star cast that was released on Netflix has now officially become the most popular movie on the platform. Red Notice also becomes the first movie to cross 300 million watch hours. 

Red Notice beats the previous holder of this title Bird Box, which has an impressive 282 million watch hours. Red Notice stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in the lead role. 

The streaming giants officially revealed the news about Red Notice, while also releasing lists of the most popular movies of the week as well as countries in which the action thriller is the top movie.

Other top titles among this list includes Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised and A Boy Called Christmas, leading up to the festival season. Among the top 10 original streaming movies of all time, Red Notice, Bird Box, Extraction, The Irishman, and The Kissing Booth 2 make up the top five.

Red Notice came out on the streaming platform on November 12 and was received with much fanfare. The movie however, did not do pleasingly well with the critics. The movie received poor reviews, but this did not stop its success on Netflix. 

The top 5 movies in the all time streaming originals in the platforms all received fairly poor reviews from critics after their release, except The Irishman and this goes to show that there is a clear gap between critics and audiences.
