Reeshma Nanaiah, who debuted in Kannada cinema with director Prem’s Ek Love Ya and is currently a part of Golden Star Ganesh’s Baana Daariyalli and Dhanveerrah’s Vamana, has done a special number in another film. Reeshma, who is quite an accomplished dancer, was approached by the team of the campus horror story Spooky College, which has Vivek Simha and Kushee Ravi in the lead.
What’s special about the number is that the team is using a classic number, Mellusire Savigana from Dr Rajkumar’s Veerakesari, and giving it a slightly contemporary spin. The song, according to director Bharath, is not a random addition and does, in fact, contribute to the progression of the story. The song plays at a crucial juncture in the narrative, when the boys from the college head to a forest in Dandeli.
When the team planned to use the evergreen hit song, they thought it would be best if a known face, who is also a good dancer is a part of it. Having seen Reeshma’s extraordinary dancing skills in the Ek Love Ya songs, the team approached her, and she agreed to be a part of it immediately. Shot at a specially erected set in Bengaluru, the song was choreographed by Bhushan master.
Produced by HK Prakash, Spooky College has been shot at a century-old college in Dharwad. The horror-comedy has music by B Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Manohar Joshi. The film introduces Prithvi Rashtrakuta as the antagonist. Also on the cast are actors like Prakash Belawadi, Hanumanth Gowda, Raghu Ramanakoppa, Vijay Chendoor, Arvind Bolar, MK Mutt and Ashwin Hassan, among others. The team, we hear, had finished most of the principal photography at the Dharwad College and has only the portions in the Dandeli forest pending. Reeshma’s song is part of this schedule, so the team should be able to wrap up the film shortly.
