Rekhachithram out on OTT earlier than expected! How to watch Asif Ali, Anaswara Rajan's Malayalam thriller now

Rekhachithram is streaming on OTT! Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan’s mystery thriller is now available on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium. Jofin T Chacko’s Malayalam thriller has landed on OTT a day earlier than announced. Here’s everything you need to know about Rekhachithram, Malayalam's first hit of the year.

SonyLiv started streaming Rekhachithram on March 6, 2025, while the official release date was March 7. Asif Ali’s Malayalam thriller film is also available on OTTplay Premium. Viewers can also watch the Malayalam film in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

The popular streaming platform has been releasing Malayalam movies a day in advance. Unni Mukundan’s Marco also released on February 13, 2025, while the official date was Valentine’s Day. Similarly, Joju George’s Pani arrived on the eve of the official date of January 16, 2025. Both Marco and Pani are available on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium in multiple languages, including Tamil and Telugu.

Why you should watch Rekhachithram

Rekhachithram brings a gripping plot of a cop pursuing the case of a young woman going missing more than 40 years ago. Asif Ali stars as CI Vivek, while Anaswara Rajan plays young aspiring actress Rekha who went missing from the film set of Mammootty-starrer Kathodu Kathoram in 1985. Director Jofin T Chacko and writer Ramu Sunil masterfully weave in the events happening in two timelines of present-day Kerala and the events that transpired in 1985. For convincingly portraying the Malayalam megastar from the 1980s period, the makers have brilliantly made use of AI technology. Apart from the terrific plot and performances, this adds another interesting dimension to the film, making it a must-watch on OTT.

Rekhachithram, which has a screenplay by John Manthrickal and Ramu Sunil, has music by Mujeeb Majeed. The thriller, produced by Venu Kunnappilly, was declared to be the first hit from Malayalam in 2025.
