Director Ram Gopal Varma’s (RGV) political film Vyooham has been postponed yet again. The film, which was scheduled to be released in theatres today (February 23) will now be released on March 1. Meanehile, Shapadham will be released on March 8.
The director took to his social media handles to announce the new dates of Vyooham and its sequel Shapadham. “VYOOHAM film and SHAPADHAM film are being postponed to March 1st and March 8th but this time it is NOT BECAUSE OF LOKESH ..It is due to certain technicalities , wanting to do more promotion and also because we are getting better preferred theatres on those dates (sic),” RGV tweeted.
For the uninitiated, both Vyooham and Shapadham are centred around the political journey of the current Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. RGV had earlier released a couple of provocative posters in which characters resembled the two popular opposition leaders and alliance partners, Nara (Lokesh) Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. As per insider sources, Lokesh is responsible for the delay in the film’s release.
With the news of the delay in the film's release, booking portal BookMyShow has begun issuing refunds to all those who had made advance bookings.

Director Ram Gopal Varma revealed that he wanted to bring on celluloid the ‘untold’ story of YS Jagan, who emerged as a popular figure amid conspiracies and challenges.
Vyooham will showcase the events that unfolded within Jagan Mohan Reddy's family following the demise of his father, the late Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhar, and the legal battles that he faced. The sequel, Shapadham, will be about how Jagan overcame adversity to become Chief Minister. Both films have been produced by Dasari Kiran Kumar.
Ajmal Amir plays YS Jagan in the films, while Manasa Radhakrishnan is cast as the politician’s wife, Bharathi. Dhanunjay Prabhune, who starred in Ram Gopal Varma’s Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu, will play Chandrababu Naidu. Surabhi Prabhavati, Rekha Surekha and Vasu Inturi also play pivotal roles in the film.
