Tiger Nageswara Rao, the Ravi Teja starrer documenting the life of the notorious thief from Stuartpuram, is gradually finding its feet at the box office after facing heavy competition from Bhagavanth Kesari and Leo last weekend. Despite the mixed reviews, audiences and critics have been unanimous in their praise for Renu Desai. In a video, the actress revealed why chose this as her comeback film.

“I did a dance programme in 2017 called Neethoney Dance and everyone started enquiring me about my acting interests. I always told them that three things had to come together - the role, the director and the producer. It has to be a combination of three things that’ll make me say yes, take a step ahead and come in front of the camera. I think I love direction more than acting,” she said.

The actress shared that she adores Hemalatha Lavanam and wished she was alive today. “I wanted to meet her after reading about her. She is a woman who goes into the jungles of Chambal, walks with dacoits, works on the reformation of the devadasis. The choice to play her was a no-brainer. In Vamsee, I saw the confidence of handling such a high-scale project.”

Praising director Vamsee, Renu Desai added, “He understands the psychology of the character and the scene together. For me, it was scary, because being a director myself, I wasn’t sure about working under someone. With Vamsee, it was so easy and he knows his job. When someone knows their job, you don’t want to interfere. Abhishek Agarwal as a producer is anyway ‘lajawaab’.”

Gayatri Bhardwaj, Nupur Sanon played the female leads in the film that also starred Nasser, Anupam Kher, Hareesh Peradi. GV Prakash Kumar scored the music for the actioner produced by Abhishek Agarwal under Abhishek Agarwal Arts, the banner behind films like The Vaccine War, Karthikeya 2 and The Kashmir Files.
