Pooja Hegde goes the extra mile for Retro
Her next big venture is Retro, starring superstar Suriya and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. This marks Pooja Hegde’s first collaboration with Suriya and Netflix has grabbed the OTT rights to the action drama. The teaser, released a few months ago, showcased Pooja in a traditional avatar, and her chemistry with Suriya was widely appreciated. Reports suggest that she has a significant role in Retro, which is nearing the completion of its shoot.
In an exciting update, Pooja Hegde has dubbed for herself in Retro for the first time in Tamil. Previously, her voice was dubbed by others, including in Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava, which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas.
In a recent interview, Pooja Hegde expressed her surprise when Karthik Subbaraj approached her for the lead role. She shared, "I was shocked when Karthik sir offered me Retro. The role is completely different from my usual image, and I felt so honored to be considered for it. I knew I had to give it my all."
Produced by Jyothika and Suriya under their home banner, Retro is set to hit the screens on May 1, 2025. The film has generated a lot of buzz, and director Karthik Subbaraj revealed that Suriya was highly impressed with the final output and was also impressed with Pooja Hegde's realistic performance.

Meanwhile, Pooja Hegde will make a special appearance in Coolie and play the female lead in Kanchana 4 and Jana Nayagan. Additionally, she has signed a major Bollywood project titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
