Retro, the upcoming Tamil film starring Suriya in the lead role, is all set for release on May 1. The makers are gearing up for the trailer release, with the promotions already having begun. Retro has completed censor formalities and has been certified U/A. The Karthik Subbaraj film will be taking a lavish runtime of two hours and 48 minutes.
Suriya, who faced a major setback with Kanguva, is gearing up for the release of his next film. Titled Retro, the film is tipped to be a romantic action drama marking the actor’s first collaboration with director Karthik Subbaraj, who made a smashing debut with Pizza.
Retro is scheduled to release on May 1 in theatres. The film has completed its censor formalities and will run for a lengthy time of two hours and 48 minutes. The Suriya-starrer has received a U/A certificate from the censor board. A certificate of the censor, that has gone viral on social media, reveals that the film will be violent.
Karthik Subbaraj, while speaking about Retro, had said that it is his most commercial film ever since Petta, which starred Rajinikanth in the lead role. Retro also stars Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Karunakaran in important roles. The music is scored by Santhosh Narayanan, with Shreyaas Krishna cranking the camera. Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor.
Suriya famously starred in the cop action film franchise Singam, which consists of three parts, all of which are streaming on SunNXT. Helmed by filmmaker Hari, Suriya plays the hot-headed but honest cop Durai Singam.
There is also director Bala’s action-drama Nandha, which gave Suriya a career break, available on Aha. It is a story about a young man who comes from a youth detention centre and tries to live a peaceful life and earn his mother's love. Suriya also worked with Bala in Pithamagan, a rustic actioner co-starring Vikram, in which Suriya’s role was much appreciated.
