The next big release from Hombale Films, Yuva, the launchpad of Yuva Rajkumar, is only a week away and director Santhosh Ananddram, who has been tight-lipped about the film for the longest time, has begun offering morsels of information about how he’s presented the debutant and what to expect. With the trailer of Yuva set to drop today at 1 pm, Santhosh revealed that the synopsis available online about the film being a campus flick revolving around gang wars among students, is only a portion of the tale, with the major bit exploring the dynamics between Yuva and his father, played by Achyuth Kumar.

Speaking to the media ahead of the film’s release, Santhosh said, “The film’s major plot point is the struggle for survival, especially from the perspective of a student, who is stepping into the world and on the lookout for career opportunities. Yuva plays a delivery boy in the second half of the film. Delivery boys is the biggest network in the city or country. The challenge of making a livelihood is a central part of the conflict Yuva has with his father.”

The film, adds the director, begins with Yuva in the final semester of engineering. “First half is all about college, gang wars, while the second is about life and making something of it. But overall, Yuva is about the conflict between a father and son, the misunderstandings between them and the realizations each has about the other eventually. Some of this will be revealed in the trailer,” says Santhosh.

The film, meanwhile, will most probably open only by 8 am as the banner is not keen on paid premieres or early morning shows. They are also targeting around 300-350 centres for the film’s release on March 29. The film’s post-theatrical rights have gone to Amazon Prime Video and Suvarna TV.
