Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan turned 34 on April 24, 2021. The actor, who has recently completed shooting for his upcoming film Bhediya, is back home to celebrate his birthday with his wife Natasha Dalal.

Over the last few years, Dhawan has given his fans some memorable films and some of the scenes remain etched in our memories. Here are a few of them...

1. Badlapur- Hammer scene (Amazon Prime Video)

Badlapur became synonymous with the hammer. Dhawan, as Raghu, used the tool to kill a person in this dark film. The whole sequence, in fact, is quite bone-chilling. Not only does he kill the person in question but later, when stopped by the cops, he exclaims ‘Murder kela saaheb’ (I’ve murdered someone, sir), proving how cold Raghu has grown in search for vengeance.

2. October - Taking Shiuli out in the open (Amazon Prime Video)

One of the best parts about Shoojit Sircar’s October, was the fact that normalcy was intact even in the most abnormal of situations. It showed the society a mirror, about how life only moves forward, no matter the situation. In the role of Dan, Varun made sure to make Shuili, who is in a vegetative state, feel normal. The best example of that scene is when he took Shuili out in the open, to see the sunset together.

3. ABCD 2 - Vande Mataram (Netflix India)

Varun Dhawan was paired with Shraddha Kapoor for the first time in ABCD 2. While their pairing was loved, a scene from the film that touched most hearts, was the climax scene. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the whole film was building up to that sequence. In the particular scene, every dancer on the team came together and showed how much strength there is in unity. It indirectly also showed that India derives its strength in unity.

4. Sui Dhaaga - Cycle scene (YouTube)

Dhawan was seen in the role of a lower middle-class man Mauji, who struggles to make ends meet. With his wife Mamta (Anushka Sharma)’s support, he opens a tailoring business (sui dhaaga in Hindi). However, it is not an easy path. One such example of the struggle is the cycle scene. Unable to afford a car, Mauji and Mamta ride across rocky roads on a cycle and fall down after a truck passes them on the uphill.

5. Dishoom - When he got Kabir out of danger (Disney+ Hotstar)

Throughout Dishoom, Dhawan (in the role of Junaid) is tagged useless. However, it was in the scene with Vijay Raaz and John Abraham that his skill as a detective was most useful. He helped Abraham (playing Kabir) out of a dire situation. He got the khabri (Raaz) to help out with their case, and when Kabir lost his cool, he helped him out of the situation too.
