Durga Puja is around the corner. The ongoing protest marches to seek justice for the rape and murder victim of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have somewhat marred the spirit of the festival. After the Supreme Court hearing on Monday, the Bengal chief minister urged people to ‘soak in the spirit of the festival.” She said that the government will not tolerate any maligning, conspiracy, propaganda, or misinformation about Bengal's greatest festival, Durga Puja.

Tollywood personalities seemed to be disappointed by her comments. Actress-director Manasi Sinha is known to be an outspoken person. She shared a poster on Facebook that reads, “We are not returning to the festival.” Referring to the pain of the mother of the victim, she wrote in the caption, “Being a mother is not an easy thing. How could you say that? Shame!”

In the press conference at Nabanna, the CM said, “You remain on the streets every night. Many people get disturbed, including old people. Their sleep gets disturbed by a mic. The Pollution Control Board ruled that no mic can be played after 10 pm, and the decibel limits are set. We are not saying anything.”

Actress Anindita Roychoudhury also protested. She shared a screenshot of Mamata's press conference, showing her comment, “It has been a month. Now return to the festival.” Anindita sarcastically wrote 'We were waiting for this. So cute, no?'

Will the doctors return to work and stop the movement? No such information is available regarding this.
