Nineteen days on and the justice for the victim of RG Kar Medical College is yet to be met. Protests are going on all over West Bengal. Common people as well as celebrities are coming to the streets every day with the slogan: We want justice.
Filmmaker Birsa Dasgupta is the father of two girls, one aged 24 and the other 13. While Bengal is buzzing with the RG Kar incident, Birsa cautioned everyone with his social media post. He clearly asked to stay away from the perverts.
Birsa wrote on Facebook, “There's a difference between affection and perversion. Be aware of the perverts lurking around. Might be a so called friend or a relative. No vaccine can cure this sickness. Bidipta and I got 2 daughters, the elder one is 24 and the younger is 13. So yes we know what we are talking about.' Birsa has been vocal since the start of the protest campaign. He joined the 'Reclaim the Night' program on August 14. Now, he has become vocal on Facebook. On the other hand, Bengal sees unrest demanding justice without any compromise. However, even in such a situation, harassment of women did not stop, as was seen in Assam and Badlapur, and Bihar. Subhasree Ganguly demanded capital punishment for the rapists.
