RG Kar protest: Rachna Banerjee trolled, Didi No 1 bears the brunt on TRP chart

Protests are going on all over West Bengal over the heinous rape and murder of the doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital earlier this month. On social media, the celebrity MLAs and MPs of the ruling party have been pestered with such questions for the last few days. Their photos were made viral on social media and trolled. 

Amid this, Rachna Banerjee shared a video on August 15. But a part of the netizens thought of it as ‘fake’ mourning. Then they called for boycotting Didi No. 1. Did the TRP get affected by that call? 

It became clear from the show’s TRP chart of the last three weeks. Before the RG Kar incident, in the TRP chart published on August 8, The show’s score for the Sunday Dhamaka episode was 5.3. On the other days of the week, the average score was 2.4. In the next week, according to the chart of August 16, the score went up to 5.7. But in the present week, the score came down to 4.7. That is clearly an indication.

After the RG Kar incident, the net world trolled the artists. The celebs also became vocal like the common people and went to the streets demanding justice. Still, they were not spared. Rachana shared a video that showed her crying for the victim. People teased the video as crocodile’s tears. The call for boycotting the show was on the air. It was also heard that the show’s audition was stopped in Raiganj. Now, the TRP list showed a sharp decline in the popularity of the show.
