Filmmaker Ramgopal Varma's obsession with the world of gangsters, gang wars, factionism and crime continues with his latest endeavour, a web series titled Kadappa. Kadappa is a vengeance-filled drama based on Rayalaseema faction wars spanning a few decades. The first two seasons of the web series will focus on the lives of brothers Paritala Ravi and Paritala Hari who hail from the Anantapur district. The show will premiere in Hindi and Telugu languages on a major OTT platform shortly.

A glimpse of Kadappa was unveiled the previous weekend which promises intense drama, gory action sequences with a rousing background score that sounds very similar to the 'Govinda Govinda' track from the filmmaker's hit film Sarkar. A few recognisable faces in Kadappa include Kancherapalem Kishore, Isha Koppikar. The show is filled with many newcomers eager to carve their niche.

Kadappa is however not directed by Ramgopal Varma and is instead being helmed by his associate, frequent collaborator Agasthya Manju. This isn't the first time that Ramgopal Varma is exploring the life of Paritala Ravi for the visual medium. His Rakta Charitra series, starring Vivek Oberoi, Radhika Apte, Suriya, Priyamani and Shatrughan Sinha was solely based on the feud between Paritala Ravi and Maddelacheruvu Suri.

Talking about the show, Isha Koppikar had said in an interview to Indian Express that it's a dark subject that'll have the flavour of Narcos in its storytelling. She will reportedly play a police officer who hails from North India but needs to shift her base to South India. Isha had also mentioned that the series has to do more with mind games rather than action sequences. RGV's last theatrical release was Dheyyam, starring Rajasekhar in the lead role.
