Rhea Kapoor supports Sonam Kapoor after she was criticized for claiming she borrows designer clothing for photos

After Sonam Kapoor was criticised for borrowing clothing from designers, her sister Rhea Kapoor spoke out in Sonam Kapoor's defence. During her recent appearance on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan 7, Sonam admitted that 90 per cent of the clothing she wears in photographs is borrowed from companies. Although people had different reactions to this, Rhea explained what the duo are trying to achieve.

Sonam discussed her passion for pre-event photography in Koffee With Karan episode 6 and stated, “The reason Rhea and I decided to take photos was because we realised when we went on the red carpet, there was so much business behind us. And we were borrowing, most of my clothes are borrowed. 90 per cent of my clothes are borrowed.”

In response, a small company owner created a video explaining the concept of celebrity branding. Rhea replied to it on her Instagram stories by commenting, “We really do try our best because we love fashion and design! No ones perfect and things may not always turn out ideally for everyone but the intent is there! (sic)”

Sonam stated on the show that, “They (brands) lend you clothes, we’re not buying. Pagal thodi hain ke itne saare paise spend karein (We are not mad to spend this much money to buy clothes.)”

She continued, “We were like we need to give credit where due," as she nearly startled Karan with her response. She went on to say that the only motive was to ensure that if someone were to lend Sonam something, they would receive appealing photographs so that they could be credited.

The actress recently gave birth to a son. She was discharged from the hospital on Friday. Following the birth of Sonam and Anand Ahuja’s first child, Rhea posted his first image on her social media account.
