Raju Srivastav’s untimely demise has left the entire film and television industry in mourning. The comedian had earned a place among audiences with his delightful brand of humour, becoming one of the most well known and respected comedians in the country. Although Srivastav is most popular for his hilarious performances in comedy shows like The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Comedy Circus, Laugh India Laugh, Comedy Nights with Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show, the late actor had also graced the silver screen in a number of Bollywood films as well.

Srivastav had made his Bollywood debut in the 1988 film Tezaab, which featured Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles. Since then, the actor has been a part of a number of Bollywood films spanning across genres. Here are a few popular Bollywood films Raju Srivastav has been a part of:

Baazigar

Baazigar saw Shah Rukh Khan essay the role of a young man on a mission to exact revenge upon a rich businessman, who caused the ruin of the former’s family. The film also featured Shilpa Shetty and Kajol in leading roles as well, portraying the daughters of the rich man. Srivastav essayed a small supporting role in the film, as a college student who studies in the same institute as Shetty’s character.

Bombay To Goa

Bombay To Goa marked one of the first films Srivastava bagged a leading role in. Also starring other popular comedians such as Sunil Pal, Aasif Sheikh, Ahsaan Qureshi, Vijay Raaz, Asrani and Tinnu Anand, the 2007 film follows the story of two friends who decide to start a travel company together. After learning about a ‘secret treasure’ from a runaway criminal, the duo decide to make a journey from Mumbai to Goa in pursuit of the riches. The film was directed by Raj Pendurkar.

Maine Pyar Kiya

Maine Pyar Kiya, starring Bhagyashree and Salman Khan, marked the debut of the former. The Sooraj Barjatya directorial followed the story of a young woman,Suman, who goes to live with his father’s friend, and falls in love with the latter’s son, Prem. When Suman’s father refuses to let the two marry, Prem decides to prove himself to be worthy of marrying the young woman. In the 1989 film, Srivastav essayed the role of Shambhu, a friend to one of Prem’s rivals.

Waah! Tera Kya Kehna

This 2002 film marked Srivastava’s second collaboration with Govinda after Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiyaa. The film saw Govinda essay a dual role, and Srivastav starred as the assistant to one of the former’s characters.

Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon

This 2003 romantic comedy saw Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan in leading roles. The film follows the story of a bubbly young woman named Sanjana whose family tries to set her up with a US based young man named Prem. Although hesitant at first, Sanjana begins to fall for the young man, only to have her heart broken in the face of a shocking revelation. The film saw Srivastav portray the character of Sambhu, a domestic worker in Sanjana’s home.
