Filmmaker Shiv Kumar Subramaniam, who has been a presence in the Hindi film industry since 1989, has passed away. The actor, who made his debut with Parinda in 1989 as a writer, went on to feature in more movies and shows in his career.
Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Parinda stars Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Nana Patekar and Anupam Kher among others. The screenplay was penned by the late filmmaker.
While the reason of his death is yet to be known, journalist Beena Sarwar and director Hansal Mehta have reacted to his death, by retweeting a Tweet about his death by Bollywoodirect.
hile Mehta said it is a terrible news to wake up to and is heartbreaking, Beena Sarwar said she is gutted to hear the news. “ Incredibly tragic, esp as it happened just two months after the passing of his and Divya’s only child - Jahaan, taken by a brain tumour 2 weeks before his 16th birthday.” she wrote.
Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi is another one of the late filmmaker's big achievements. Having written the original story & screenplay for the political drama, the film received positive reviews and also screened at 12 film festivals in six months.
The actor also played the role of businessman Mr.IM.Virani in the TV show, Mukti Bandhan that aired on Colours. Some of his more recent roles were in Meenakshi Sundareshwar, and Nail Polish. The actor has also been a part of movies such as Rocky Handsome, Ungli, Kaminey, 1942: A Love Story and 2 States.
