Ritu Varma on Devika & Danny: A blessing in disguise to play such a complex role

Pelli Choopulu and Mazaka fame Ritu Varma is all set for her OTT debut with Devika & Danny, an original JioHotstar web series. The makers have announced that the series will be available for streaming on June 6, 2025, and will feature eight episodes in total.

Ahead of the release, the makers held a press interaction and showcased a few snippets of the show. Ritu Varma is seen playing a village girl who falls in love with a guy but gets engaged to someone else. This thread is developed in a very interesting way in the first two episodes of the show.

Speaking about her role, Ritu Varma said that getting to play such a diverse character, with complex emotions, is a blessing in disguise. "I am very lucky to bag such a role and thank the makers for approaching me. My character has multiple shades and gave me so much scope to perform. It is only in the OTT space that one gets to play such different roles, and Devika & Danny will showcase yet another angle of my performance," said Ritu Varma.

Sreekaaram fame B. Kishore has directed the series and believes Ritu Varma is the perfect choice for the role. "She is dignified and can superbly showcase vulnerability," said the director.

Shiva Kandukuri also plays a key role in the series, which has been made on a decent budget. Subbaraju is another important cast member, and the promos have already created considerable excitement.

Ritu Varma is known for choosing projects with strong characters, and headlining such a big series comes with great responsibility. In the past, JioHotstar has produced multiple web series, though not many have made a significant mark.
