Rituparna Sengupta, Lopamudra Mitra, Joy Sarkar, Sahana Bajpaie, Raghav Chatterjee, Surajit Chatterjee, Devlina Kumar, Samantyak Sinha, and several other cultural icons of Bengal will attend a festival, London Mahotsav, to celebrate Bangaliana in London for non-resident Bengalis. The event will take place at Sattavis Patidar Centre, in Wembley, London, on April 20 and 21. Along with music and dance presentations, there will be a display of Bengali books published in India and Bangladesh. There will also be a food fair to celebrate the culinary delicacies from Bengali heritage that have a special place in the UK’s gastronomic history.
Rituparna has been promoting the event as the brand ambassador. In a video message, she expressed her enthusiasm for the event. “I am eagerly waiting to meet the Bengalis in the UK. I welcome all of you,” she said.
Joy and Lopamudra will perform on April 20. Rituparna will perform a dance show with their musical presentation. Both the musicians are busy rehearsing their soiree. “We are looking forward to it. Our audiences there are very organised. We already received their wishlist of songs. They are very keen and committed to our music. The requests of songs that we received are pretty uncommon and we would love to perform those numbers,” Joy told OTTplay.
Meanwhile, Joy and Lopamudra are also excited to perform together. “There was a time when we used to perform together a lot. These days, we barely get to perform together. Hence, wherever we get a chance, it becomes a special show. I am sure there will be a lot of adda and interesting conversation with the viewers,” said Joy.
London Mahotsav will present an array of events including exhibitions of handicrafts, jewellery, books, and cultural events.
