Exclusive! Ritwick Chakraborty on Ayan Sil’s arrest: How can we know the source of the producers' money?

Ritwick Chakraborty has acted in Kaushik Ganguly’s Kabadi Kabadi which also features Sohini Sarkar and Arjun Chakrabarty and others. The shooting is complete, the film’s dubbing is yet to be done and the project is on hold. Meanwhile, the producer of this film Ayan Sil was arrested on Monday morning in connection with SSC appointment scams by the Enforcement Directorate officials. The ED officials recovered a number of bank accounts and other evidence related to the scams from Ayan’s office.

Ritwick Chakraborty, who plays the lead in the film, said, “I worked in this film because Kaushikda wanted me to. I never knew the producer. He came on the sets a couple of times and I saw him there. It is practically not possible for the artistes to know the source of the producer’s money. It is not possible to ask for the IT returns before signing for a film. It is also out of our jurisdiction.”

Earlier, after Kuntal Ghosh’s arrest, Bonny Sengupta was summoned by the ED. Several names, including Priyanka Sarkar, Ena Saha, and others names surfaced to be under the ED radar. Is this harming the image of the entertainment industry? “Yes, of course, the connection with the black money will have a negative impact on the industry's image and common people will surely feel bad. But I don’t believe that the entire industry is full of black money and our films are only made with that money,” said the ace actor. 

Meanwhile, Kaushik Ganguly’s phone remained unreachable since the arrest.
