Robert De Niro to Kim Cattrall: Check out these fun facts about the cast of Lionsgate’s About My Father

Starring Osacr-winning actor Robert De Niro, along with Sebastian Maniscalco, director Laura Terruso’s much talked-about comedy drama film About My Father has finally hit the theatres. Released by Lionsgate on May 26, the film is said to be inspired by Sebastian’s - who has also co-written the script - relationship with his own father. Also featuring Leslie Bibb, Anders Holm, David Rasche and Kim Cattrall, the plot revolves around Sebastian (playing himself), who is encouraged by his fiancée to bring his immigrant, hairdresser father, Salvo to a weekend get-together with her rich and ‘eccentric’ family. Here are some lesser-known facts about the cast members of About My Father. 

Did you know Robert is autentico italiano? Yes, you heard that right! While he may have been born in the US, the Godfather actor grew up in Little Italy, New York, where he was nicknamed ‘Bobby Milk’, thanks to his fair complexion. The half-Italian, half-Irish actor was even inducted into the Italian-American Hall of Fame in 2002. Additionally, the actor was awarded honorary citizenship by Italy in 2004.

Sebastian, on the other hand, served as a waiter at the Four Seasons Hotel, before he started his journey in the world of stand-up comedy and acting. The American-Italian actor won Billboard’s 2018 ‘Comedian of the Year’ title, and has six comedy specials to his name. Sebastian has also written a best-selling memoir, titled Stay Hungry. 

Meanwhile, Kim was named the ‘Ultimate Icon’ by Cosmopolitan magazine. The Sex and the City actress and fashion icon also has two honorary degrees for her contribution to the dramatic arts. Before getting into acting, Leslie was a model. At 16, she won Oprah’s modelling competition on her show in 1990. Anders, on the other hand, is a man of many talents. He’s an actor, comedian, writer and producer.
