Robinhood, one of the most-awaited films of the year, finally hit the screens on March 28, 2025. This action-comedy opened to decent reviews worldwide; however, its box office performance has been underwhelming. Despite the initial buzz, the numbers have not been as promising as expected.
The Nithiin-starrer has completed four days at the box office, earning a net total of Rs 9.5 crore worldwide. These figures are far from impressive, and the film needs to generate significantly more revenue to enter the safe zone. On Sunday, Robinhood managed to collect Rs 2.75 crore, but despite the Eid holiday on Monday, its earnings dipped to just Rs 1 crore. With the holiday weekend now over, the film is expected to struggle further at the box office.
Meanwhile, the other recent release, MAD 2, has been performing exceptionally well. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has managed to attract the youth and has grossed over Rs 40 crore, delivering massive profits for its makers. This stark contrast in box office performance highlights the unpredictability of audience preferences.

Robinhood faced multiple delays before its eventual release. The film was in production for a long time and was postponed twice before finally making its way to theaters. Adding to the anticipation, international cricket star David Warner also played a key role in the film. However, these factors did not contribute significantly to its success. On a positive note, actress Sreeleela, who played the female lead, has received appreciation for her performance.
The film’s director, Venky Kudumula, previously collaborated with Nithiin for the hit film Bheeshma. Their reunion for Robinhood generated considerable excitement, further fueled by the film’s popular songs and comedic elements. However, despite the initial hype, the movie has not translated that excitement into strong box office numbers.
One saving grace for the makers is the sale of the film’s OTT rights to Zee5 for a substantial price, which ensures some level of financial recovery. Nevertheless, with its theatrical run slowing down significantly, it remains to be seen how much Robinhood will ultimately earn. Stay tuned for more updates on its box office performance.
