R Madhavan's much-awaited biographical movie, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect has finally hit the theatres today. The film, which is based on the former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, marks the directorial debut of the actor. Fans have high expectations from the movie as it also stars Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya in cameo roles. The two superstars of the Indian cinema have not charged even a penny for their roles in the biopic.
Recently, Madhavan opened up about the two stars in the movie and how he is indebted to them for being a part of it without a pie. Speaking to Pinkvilla about them, Madhavan said that he was surprised and highly indebted to them. "You know people keep talking about how this industry is competitive and killer and stuff but if I had to go by what Shah Rukh sir and Suriya did for me without getting a pie and bent over backwards to get it done. Shah Rukh shot with me in English as well as Hindi," he said, adding that the industry has many extraordinary, graceful and generous people and this, he said, he can say with a hand on his heart. "I'm an outsider, I have no qualms in admitting it because I am and I have found the kind of support and acceptance and love. You know I'm always going to be very grateful, I don't have any complaints at all," he further told the portal.
Madhavan had earlier said in an interview though that Shah Rukh Khan had done the film without any fees out of pure altruism. He had said that he does not regard him as a brother though. Madhavan has shared the screen with the superstar in the film, Zero and he said Khan has always showered him with affection despite his stature. In fact, even before they worked together, Khan had invited him after knowing how much his wife Sarita loves SRK. The two do not hang out much or go to parties together but he's a fan of SRK since he is a superstar.
In Rocketry, Madhavan plays the role of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of espionage and had to fight his own case in the Supreme Court to prove his innocence. The film is now out in theatres in Hindi, Tamil, and English. It is also dubbed in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film also stars Rajit Kapur, Simran, Misha Ghoshal, Ravi Raghavendra, Muralidaran, Shyam Renganathan, and Karthik Kumar in important roles.
