Ever since news broke that Rocking Star Yash had been approached to play Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of the Ramayana, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead, one question on every fan’s mind was – will he or won’t he? Throughout the long waiting period that Yash fans had before he finally announced his next after KGF: Chapter 2, Toxic, every time a rumour came up about Yash doing work in another industry, he’d always countered it saying that they had nothing to worry and that he wasn’t going anywhere. He’d bring them all to where he is, he had said.

Today, the official confirmation came that Yash will be co-producing the Ramayan film through his Monster Mind Creations. He has still not said if he is indeed playing Ravana, although sources have hinted that he will, but Yash’s involvement as producer already has Kannada movie fans staking claim on the project. Does this mean that any earlier reservations held about the Rocking Star playing villain in another industry have been swept under the carpet?

If the buzz on social media is anything to go by, right now, there is a sense of pride – Monster Mind Creations is taking the Kannada film industry places. There are still a few stray voices holding out hope that Yash’s involvement will be limited to his role as producer and that Ravana will be played by someone else, after all.

The Ramayan news comes only days after fans began a countdown to Yash’s much-awaited next, Toxic. Back in December last year, when the project was officially announced, with the title reveal, it was said that the film would be in theatres on April 10, 2025. A ‘1 year to intoxicate the world’ trend was started to kick off the countdown, as reports emerged that the film is yet to go on floors. Yash had earlier said that his next will not be ‘massive’ when compared to the scale of, say, KGF: Chapter 2, but that it will be a good product.
