If the team of Rocking Star Yash’s upcoming next, Toxic, had stuck to the initial timeline, by now, fans would have been counting down to the release of the film. It was, after all, initially announced as an April 10, 2025 release. But since the start of shoot and subsequent progress was delayed, Yash had clarified that they would not be able to meet the date. At the time, the Rocking Star had said that he would not announce another release date unless the product was complete, as it was a matter of credibility.

According to unconfirmed reports, the team is currently shooting for the final schedule of the film, while VFX work has also commenced. This has, apparently, given the team the confidence to consider announcing when Toxic can be expected in theatres. The buzz on social media is that the makers will reveal the Toxic release date on April 10.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is, reportedly, being shot in Kannada and English simultaneously, with the makers gunning for a global release. A period film, Toxic is set in Goa and centres on the drug mafia. Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi are part of the cast, while Geetu’s husband Rajeev Ravi handles cinematography and Hollywood action director JJ Perry the stunts.

Produced by KVN Productions, in association with Yash’s Monster Minds Creations, Toxic is likely to be a late 2025 theatrical release, with confirmation expected shortly. Although December has been rumoured as the likely timeline for Toxic, netizens say that it would have to be in theatres earlier, as the third instalment in the Avatar franchise, Fire and Ash is slated to release on December 19. Toxic releasing too close to the James Cameron directorial will hamper its chances in the global market.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected in early October, but there’ve been indications that it may not meet this deadline. In that case, Toxic could gun for the Dasara window, or weeks later for Diwali. Whatever the makers choose eventually, the hope is that Toxic gets a solo release.

Throughout the course of the film’s making, the team has not made any official confirmations about the cast or crew, barring Geetu as the director. The filmmaker has been quoted as saying that the vision for Toxic is to create a narrative that resonates with Indian and international audiences. The film will also be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, given that it is one of the most anticipated movies.
